Its 1969 and John Lennon and Yoko Ono launch what is possibly the most famous anti-war campaign to date. As the Vietnam War raged in the East, pacifists were trying everything to let the leaders know that they don’t want this war. This may be the protest that is remembered more than any other.
John and Yoko married on 20th March 1969 and chose to spend their honeymoon in bed. Romantic? Perhaps, but this was one honeymoon that really shook the earth.
The couple spend one week in bed in Amsterdam, and in May that year continued with another week-long Bed-In in Montreal. The world press was invited into their bedroom for 12 hours each day, where they interviewed, sang and received visitors. In their white pajamas and white bedding, they looked like angels.
There were no sexual acts performed in front of the cameras, as some of the press had expected of John, but then they were excused at 9pm each night… Changing the world can be a huge turn on.
