Bioglide Lubricant Review

Less is more. When it comes to personal lubricant, less is much, much more. With a mere three ingredients, Bioglide is a great choice to add to sex or solo play without taking anything away. It makes you wonder why you’d need any more.

The lubricant comes out in a jel-like state but very soon turns fluid. It is clear and smooth to the touch and non-sticky. These are optimal texture states because being jel-like avoids the mess of a runny lube, whereas the fluid state means it spreads well and keeps wet – just what you should be looking for in a basic lubricant. There will be no thick built-up like you get when using a jelly lubricant, nor are you likely to need to stop and reapply in the middle of the fun. Just a drop, smaller than a penny or a cent on his penis or her vaginal entrance and you’re good to go.

Bioglide does no special tricks like warming, cooling, tingling or sensitizing, but most users aren’t in the market for special effects, they just want something that keeps them wet and makes that wetness as close to the real thing as possible.

Although not organic, Bioglide is a completely natural lube, containing nothing but water, glycerin and xanthan gum. Glycerin can be a problem for people with allergies and xanthan gum can be a problem with someone fighting candida, but both of these products are common ingredients for natural lubricants.

The soft tube has a flip top which allows you to open, dispense and close with one hand and then to stand it with ease. It has the rare and convenient quality of being transparent so you can see when you’re nearly finished the contents and can organize to buy more in time. It also lets you know that the small container can serve many more portions than you might expect because it is truly effective.

There is basically no smell, perhaps just a slight pine-like aroma which only adds to its attractiveness. The taste is slightly sweet due to the xanthan gum, so getting a tongue-full is rather fun for the taster, as it no doubt is for the tastee.

There is no mention of it on the tube, but it is worthwhile to consider it good for 12 months from the time of opening, which is the usual case with lubes. Since Bioglide has no preservatives, you should keep it in a cool place, out of direct sunlight to maximize its stability.

One of the most remarkable properties of xanthan gum is its ability to produce a large increase in the viscosity of a liquid by adding a very small quantity of gum, on the order of one percent. In most foods, it is used at 0.5%, and can be used in lower concentrations. :-”*
